K9Aid's Street Dog Rag...

A chance to update you our supporters on what has happened over the last few weeks & how your support has helped improve the lives of dogs around the world..

Debbie & Cindy - for the whole K9 team.

Winter in Romania will be warmer this year...
K9Aid's special project to provide warm dog houses for every dog in "Sava's Safe Haven" in Romania before the winter begins was a great success. Our supporters raised enough money for all 40 houses ensuring every dog would be warm this winter!

The Dog houses will be a blessing for the dogs during the harsh Romanian winters where it snows & the freezing temperatures reach well below zero. Each dog house contains warm blankets & lots of straw to keep the dogs warm. The dogs love them so it was a very rewarding Cause ensuring that EVERY dog has his OWN HOUSE THIS WINTER!..

Each (double) dog house to shelter 2 DOGS cost 60 euros approximately US$78 & those that purchased one could select a name to have printed on the front. Thanks to all those who helped, it wiil be a nice feeling over Christmas knowing the dogs are cuddled up in their little houses...

The dogs just love their houses...
Another delivery paid for by YOU...

Vegan Festival Melbourne 9th November
Raffle winner Lee Haukerdahl
Lots of great food...
Our first face to face fund raiser was a great sucess!. Sales of T-shirts, mascot dogs, cosmetics & even Vegan Shoes helped raise money to rescue more of our 4 legged friends. The festival was packed with lots to see & do, the food section was standing room only for most of the day. Our raffle was a big hit with 1st prize going to Lee Haukerdahl.

We had lots of help to man our stall from our supporters Debbie, Cindy, Lisa, Tina, Louise, Danielle & Vivienne.

K9aid supports the Sea Shepard Event...

Since 2002 Sea Shepherd have saved over 5000 whales in the Southern Ocean from illegal Japenese Poachers.

This past weekend K9AID participated at the Sea Shepherd Event in Melbourne and raised money to help dogs around the world.

The event was blessed with fantastic weather and great people, we had an amazing day. Thank you to Ellie & all that supported us at the event.

Thailand's Animal protection laws finally passed...

Some of the many animal lovers who campaigned, collecting 114,000 signatures on a petition to the Thai government...

Under a newly passed law, eating live animals, feeding mammals to predators without a reason or abusing animals will result in a year in prison and/or a maximum fine of $700.

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) of Thailand passed this much-awaited law in an overwhelming 188:1 vote, with four abstentions.

The assembly also passed a law related to the operation of veterinary clinics in a 185:0 vote, with four abstentions.

The 2014 Prevention of Animal Cruelty and Provision of Animal Welfare Act also outlaws beating, burning, or torturing animals to death; using them in illegal activities or hard labour; detaining them in narrow enclosures; keeping aggressive species together; pitting animals against each other without authorisation; deforming or disabling them; and poisoning or using chemicals to cause injury or death.

Those failing to take care of ill animals or transporting them in unsuitable vehicles leading to death or injuries can also be charged.

Congratulations for politicians who voted...

The fines will be imposed on violators on a daily basis until the actions stop. Rescued animals will be taken under the care of the Livestock Development Department.

This law has been a long time coming & for a while it looked like it would not pass, but some high profile figures put their voice behind it & animals now have laws to protect them.

Thailand has taken a step forward, all we need to do now is ensure they apply these new laws.

NO MORE SLEEPING IN THE SNOW FOR VIOLET!
Winter in Romania for Violet...
In her new home in Canada..
Remember Violet an older street dog from Romania. She was a well known and much loved fixture at Lighthouse Park in Constanta, but one day she was taken by dog catchers when they did a sweep of the park. The Laika Fund for Street Dogs with help from K9Aid supporters rescued Violet from the catchers and put her in foster care in Romania, but Violet is an old lady and needed a comfy, warm home URGENTLY.

K9Aid's supporters came to the rescue donating funds to help fly Violet to her new home in Canada. She is now a much loved member of her new family & enjoying the comforts of home. No more sleeping in a freezing park for this old girl. How good does that make you feel to know she is loved & tucked up in a warm bed?

MAKE FOOD AID YOUR GIFT FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR...
For all animal rescue groups the biggest expense item is keeping the dogs well fed. They can make do with many things but food is needed every day. In fact it’s often the food bill that stops shelters from taking in more rescues, if you can’t feed them you can’t rescue them.

It would make a great Christmas gift, filling a dog bowl this coming holiday...

From all the dogs your donations have saved, a big THANK YOU!...
They would like to wish you & your family a very Happy Christmas. This comes from dogs that are now healthy, the ones that have a warm bed to sleep in and all the dogs you have helped fly to new homes.
There will be food for more dogs this year & the old dogs will have that little extra.
Also the shelters that have been helped by your generosity are finally able to make life better for their four legged guests.
Without you none of this would be possible...
It just warms your heart to know that together we made a difference this year...
