This is a sad but heart warming story. We are going to let our Cambodian rescuer Tet Lin tell you the story of Bear in his own words….
“A few days ago, while I was returning from my usual sterilization trip, I saw a very old female dog wandering outside the city. She was limping badly and walking very slowly, searching for food.
She has a very severe case of TVT, and the wound has a very strong smell. Because of this, some people were throwing stones at her, and she ran away in fear.
She was extremely frightened of people, so I couldn’t catch her that evening.
The next day, I went back again and was finally able to catch her. I immediately took her to the clinic, where she received her first chemotherapy injection.
The vet said she will need about six chemo treatments over six weeks, and the estimated total cost is around $180.
She is about 10 years old, has no lower front teeth, her eyesight is very poor, and she also has large lumps on her leg, along with the severe TVT tumor.
It truly breaks my heart to see her condition. There is no way she could survive on the street like this. Because of the strong smell from the tumor, people were throwing stones at her,
and it makes it almost impossible for her to find food or stay safe.
I simply could not leave her there to suffer and die. So I brought her with me, and from today onwards I will keep and care for her so she can be safe during her treatment and afterwards.
I have named her Bear. She is very gentle and deserves kindness and safety in her final years.
At the moment, I am caring for 41 dogs and around 70 cats at my place. Due to the land border closures between Thailand and Cambodia, dry food prices have become very high,
so I cannot afford it and must rely mostly on rice. Right now, I use about 10 bags of rice (50 kg each) every month, and each bag costs around $20.
If anyone would kindly help Bear receive her treatment, I would be deeply grateful. And if anyone would like to donate rice for the dogs, it would help us so much”.
Our fundraiser for Bear is to raise $300,which will pay for Bear’s chemo treatments and allow Tet to buy a month’s worth of rice.
Can we help please? Thank you everyone.
