Saving sweet BELLA - her story touched our hearts...

Dear sweet Bella was once owned by very irresponsible owners. They let Bella wander the streets continuously giving birth season after season & gave her no care whatsoever.
A small local shelter run by a kind lady called Vaso Aggelopoulou, asked the owners to give Bella into her care. She wanted to rescue her from her life of misery, but the owners refused.
This broke Vaso’s heart, but she continued to keep a discreet eye on Bella.
Then one day, Bella ate poisonous bait and the owners called Vaso. She was very sick. Luckily Vaso always has the medication for this with her and she treated her on the spot and she survived. Vaso asked them again to give Bella into her care and this time they agreed!
Vaso says… “I immediately got her neutered and I took her to the safety of the shelter”. A good family I knew well wanted to adopt Bella. So she went to this new family. But sadly they expected Bella to be a guard dog and sweet Bella was not guard dog material and she wanted to kiss everyone she came in contact with wagging her tail for a cuddle and a pat. So they decided Bella was too gentle and they didn’t want her anymore.

So it was decided Bella should just stay with Vaso, safe from people’s expectations. At the shelter she has 8 friends to share her life with and they share a very large area together harmoniously.
Bella is a very gentle soul and Vaso has never heard her bark in aggression. “Give her a treat and she’s your friend for life. She loves her food and absolutely loves kind humans.”
Bella is now about 9 years old and unfortunately a tumour appeared late last year and this was operated on and removed.
It was in a very difficult place near her foot and toes. She came through and has recovered well .
Unfortunately a second tumour needs to be removed and amputation has been suggested by Vaso’s vet. But a second opinion has been sought by another vet and an
amputation can be avoided, with the tumor being expertly removed by a recommended specialist clinic in Athens.
An amputation for a shelter dog is not viable if the option to remove the tumour is possible. Vaso’s town is 275 km from Athens. In her region (the Peloponnese)
it’s difficult to find specialist vets. So the long trip to Athens must happen soon.
Vaso has been rescuing stray dogs and cats for nearly 25 years. Her self built shelter is in the olive fields in an agricultural outside her town which is
nestled in the Western Peloponnese in Greece. Here 63 dogs live safely and happily.
Bella is a senior girl and deserves every chance to have a good quality of life. She’s loving friendly adorable and has no trauma thankfully from her unfortunate start in life and
this we all attribute to Vaso’s amazing love and care she gives to each of her animals.
We would like to help Vaso pay for the removal of Bella’s tumor. We have included photos of beautiful Bella and the first tumor which was removed successfully.
Please please help us save Bella! Without this surgery there would be no option but amputation or letting her die. We need to help her quickly please.
Thank you.
