Lalu lives on the streets of Calcutta with his “wife” and “son”. He has developed TVT cancer of the penis, causing tumors, bleeding & much discomfort. Without treatment Lalu will die, but with treatment this disease will cure him.
The animal rescuers of India are truly amazing people. They give so much of their lives to helpless animals in desperate need. Mukta Das is one of those rescuers who works on the streets of Calcutta & she has asked for our help in giving street dog ” Lalu” (meaning “the red one” in Bengali) lifesaving chemotherapy treatment.
Mukta has organised for a local vet to give Lalu his chemo treatment on the street (see photo of Mukta & the vet giving Lalu his 1st treatment). This practice of treating dogs insitu where they live on the streets is not uncommon in India & without vets providing this service, many animals would die. Lalu will also receive blood tests throughout including liver & kidney function. One chemo treatment has been performed so far & there are 3 to go.
After recovery, Mukta’s ultimate plan is to get Lalu neutered & find him & his wife & son a family of their own.
Lalu also has a street friend needing the same treatment and if our fundraiser goal ($150usd) is reached, this will enable both dogs to receive this street treatment and be cured.
Please help if you can, these dogs have absolutely no-one to care for them & depend on rescuers like Mukta & donations from supporters like yourselves to survive.
