This little shelter (home to 47 dogs & 5 cats), in a small province a few hours from Manila, (The Philippines) is in desperate need of a roof extension, to stop the rain pouring into the shelter during monsoon season, which has now started.
During these tropical downpours the dogs get wet, the floor gets slippery & the shelter owner “Dominique” really struggles to keep things protected & dry.
Dominique sent us this video showing us what happens during the rainy season & we’d like to help her by raising enough money so that she can extend the roof out over the window space (creating a canopy), to stop the rain entering the shelter. A roof extension is far better than placing glass in the window, as the shelter needs airflow & in the hot sticky summer months, they need all the fresh air they can get.
Dominique like many rescuers is struggling right now due to covid quarantine restrictions & K9aid are trying to help these small shelters survive any way we can.
These dogs only survive because of kind hearted people like Dominiqe, as life as a street dog in The Philippines is frought with danger & many don’t survive. Many of Dominique’s rescues are senior dogs who have been at her shelter for over 8 years.
The cost to construct the roof extension is $450 which will purchase the wood, nails, sand/cement & metal roofing required.
We need your help to do this! Please donate if you can – every donation helps however small!
