The surgery was completed 2 days ago and the entire leg removed due to the ongoing risk of osteomyelitis which is infection in the bone.
Her bloods taken pre surgery showed her heamoglobin was only 9. Most dogs have readings of 30, so she needed urgent care. She had obviously been bleeding out
for some time for a young dog to have such a low blood count. Nova will need ongoing treatment to prevent any infection taking hold in the amputated site.
She is much more settled pain wise now that leg has been removed and thankfully she is eating and drinking well. Nova will remain in Moe’s home until fully recovered,
as she is too weak to cope with the shelter dogs at the moment. When she’s well enough she will join the other dogs in Moe’s shelter.
Moe has asked for our help in raising donations for Nova, as very few donations have been received so far & the treatment will be long and expensive.
Please lets help this poor soul. Any donation however small will help in Nova’s recovery. Thank you.
