Ashish & one of his beloved street dogsIndia is one of the toughest countries in the world to survive as a “street dog”. The vast majority of the human population is poor, so feeding/caring for dogs who live on the street is beyond most people’s ability.
Ashish Thakker is one of those people. He lives in the city of Dhrangadhra, in Gujurat, India & is instrumental in rescuing street dogs who have been injured, abused, attacked or simply left to die. The terrible sights he witnesses, most of us would never want to see in our lives.
Ashish rescues these animals from the streets, & then takes them back to his little shelter where he spends hours, days, weeks & months attending to their horrendous injuries & wounds. dogs who have no-one else in this world to care for them. He has learned first aid & wound treatment so that he is able to care for these animals (to a certain extent) by himself.
Ashish has always struggled to help these animals, but in recent times his situation has now become desperate and he now needs help more than ever! … Ashish says… ” I wish I had funds to keep helping them. I will have to stop rescues and rescuing animals as I have due bills to pay for food and meds and I don’t have any money. It costs nearly 1 lakh Indian rupees that is nearly USD$1350 a month. I am not getting donations to help the animals and run the shelter. “
This video above is just one of Ashish’s rescue missions of a dog called “Freya”. Its impossible to imagine the pain & fear this poor soul endured after having her legs chopped off & left to die by persons unkown.
