My name is Falko Duwe, a German national who has resided and worked in Pattaya, Thailand, for over 20 years. In my spare time, I have been committed to caring for stray cats and dogs on the city streets and waste grounds. Initially, my efforts were concentrated on sterilizing, rescuing, providing medical treatment, and finding homes for the animals I rescued. However, since 2011, I have shifted my focus exclusively to rescuing dogs.
Following several evictions due to the number of dogs I housed, and subsequent relocations, I founded my own shelter in 2018. Currently, I provide a home to 68 dogs and also feed and monitor an additional 15 dogs at a nearby Buddhist temple close to the sea. All of these dogs have been spayed or neutered. They have all learned to coexist despite originating from different city areas.
I am entirely dependent on donations to maintain my work. My average monthly budget of 80,000 THB (≈ 2,200 USD) over the past eight years solely covers regular expenses and excludes necessary costs for repairs, replacements, and urgent assistance for dogs in need. Any additional funds would significantly enhance my capacity to sustain my work on a more viable basis.
