Abir Animal Shelter Greece

Abir Wazzan’s shelter is home to 70 dogs & 30 cats – all rescued off the streets of Athens. Sadly every animal here has either been abandoned, neglected or abused. Until the covid19 crisis, Abir had a well paid job and supported the shelter herself. Sadly now she has been left with no job & 100 hungry animals to feed.

Bodhi Shelter Phuket

The clinic/shelter is also about providing free veterinary care to local people’s animals. There are so many really poor people here that will tell me about an animal needing help, but they can’t afford any treatment, they are struggling to survive themselves. I drive around & visit animals on location and treat them myself.

It was past midnight when rescuer Adrian Giurgiu from Second Change Dog Shelter in Pattaya Thailand saw a dog lying motionless coughing blood in the middle of the road. The dog had been run over by a car and left there to die.

Unfortunately, Thai people regularly abandon puppies on the beach or next to the temple and I have to take care of these poor babies as well. Some do survive, some disappear after a while, some I lose to diseases.

Savas Safe Haven Romania

Become a Sava’s Safe Haven Shelter Aid supporter, you will be providing long term support to help rescue & care for the street dogs of Romania. The situation for dogs in Romania got worse,in the autumn of 2013, after stray dogs were accused of killing a boy in Bucharest. Hatred towards the animals succeeded in pushing through a law allowing the killing of all dogs after 14 days of their capture, they now need your help.

A well known fact is that the stray dog problem can not be solved by killing the dogs, but only with a sterilizations programme and by educating people. If killing is allowed,to continue despite all facts the only hope is that small shelters can show that there is a better way.

YOUR DONATIONS helped re-build this shelter. In 2017 the old shelter was demolished and a new one built which houses around 20 dogs. The dogs now have a shelter above the flooding grounds. They have tiled floors beneath their feet, insulated roofing above their heads and much cleaner & more sanitary surroundings.

Turunc Cat Rescue

Turunc is a small seaside village near Marmaris on the southern coast of Turkey. Like many other towns it has a feral cat problem which “Turunç Cats Protection and Rescue Group” are working to control. The cats are released where volunteers provide them with adequate food, water and they can monitor them for any signs of illness and injuries.

Much of the work is just making things happen, from emergency calls for help, providing funds to pay for medical treatment to arranging the often difficult transport arrangement to get a dog to it’s new home. Having found new homes for over 750 dogs our volunteers have a wealth of experience at re-homing. The challenge in animal welfare is to make things happen. You the supporters are always there when a dog is in trouble & really needs a friend, without you nothing happens.

K9Aid’s supporters are there to help

the small animal rescue groups who get no help from government or major organisations. Right down at street level helping dedicated individuals who are trying to make a difference with little or no support. Dogs don’t choose who rescues them, they just need a real friend. Sometimes animal rescue can seem to be just too big a problem, the numbers of animals that need help never seems to decrease.

The only proven way to control street animal number is by “CAPTURE, NEUTER & RELEASE”,

this will stop the cycle of puppies & bring a better standard of life to the stray population. K9Aid runs mobile “SNIP” clinics to help control the numbers & vaccinate against rabies. Dogs cannot control their own fertility it is us humans who must be there for them.
