Have you ever thought of fostering a rescued dog? …Would you like to add your name to K9Aid’s International Foster Database?
One of the major hurdles in getting rescued/shelter dogs adopted around the world, is finding wonderful people who are willing to FOSTER dogs in the interim period between them arriving in a foreign country & going to their forever homes.
This transition period can be vitally important. The dog who’s often travelled a very long distance either by road &/or plane arrives in a foreign land where they are totally unfamiliar with everything around them. A new country, new people, new environment, new language, new smells, new sounds, new food etc. It can be a very frightening but also an exciting time of discovery.
Foster families often give these dogs the confidence to learn & relax in their new environment. A good foster home can make a huge beneficial difference in how well the dog adjusts into their new home.
We feel that there are probably many of you who would like to foster but don’t know where to start. We would therefore like to set up a database that can be used by the Rescue organisations we work with around the world to find potential fosters in their area when needed. Having more fosters available will enable more dogs to be rescued & rehomed into loving homes around the world.
So whatever country you live in, you are welcome to fill our our Foster Database Application form and if a dog needs a foster in your area, you may be contacted by the Rescue who will ask some more questions about the foster environment you can offer, & maybe even arrange a home visit , to see if your home environment suits the needs of a particular dog.
Fostering can be long term, short term, or emergency fostering. Some dogs need quiet foster homes with no other pets, others prefer pets. There are many variables involved which are different for each animal, that’s why having a database will be very helpful.
If you’d like to add your name, please fill out the form using the link below and follow the prompts to submit online.
PLEASE SHARE with any friends or family whom you think might be interested in becoming a foster, they’ll be making a huge difference in the life of a dog who needs it the most.
